We experienced utter hell over the last 3 months as our daughter kept hitting the streets to score drugs and shoot up as soon as she would complete various week long detox programs. It became clear that she could not overcome her drug cravings and was heading down a path of no return. We were advised to pursue “Marchman Acting” her and were referred to Myles ...thank goodness!! He helped us understand this Florida legal option, whereby, an addict who is a danger to him/herself and incapable of rational decisions can be forced to remain in a treatment facility for a designated period by law. Our daughter has been in and out of treatment centers for the past 10 years and she reacted by telling us that legal order now in place and the threat of jail if she leaves treatment , may be a game changer for her. We have our fingers and toes crossed .She is sounding more and more clear headed every day now and is focusing on getting better rather than on how to manipulate someone into helping her run.
Obtaining a Marchman order is a complex process and we could not have done it without Myles facilitating the entire process. He was supportive and empathetic every step of the way and we are very grateful to him for helping us save our daughter(for now, at least) from the disastrous downward spiral she could not escape on her own . It seems Myles helped us get her to treatment before any permanent damage was done. We are taking it one day at a time, but at least we feel there is some hope now.

Well, my name is Alex "anonymous." I was put on BSO drug court and was failing miserably for a period of 3 months, with no end in sight. I was inevitably heading for an imminent failure and possible further legal consequences. I ended up in custody for misrepresentation of my personal situation. I obtained Mr. Schlam as my Drug Court Advocate upon my release from the SAP and Life skills program, and it seems his knowledge of the legal system, the actual drug court program, as well as what private treatment was the most amicable for my schedule and affordable for my budget was the difference between success or failure with completion of Drug Court, and finally reaching long term sobriety. I COULDN’T have done it without him. Mr. Schlam truly cares about the health and well being of his clients and has not only been a great advocate, but a great friend. My life was a wreck…25 years of alcoholic drinking. My liver was in bad shape and I just got my 2nd DWI. My wife had left me and my kids would not talk to me. A friend introduced me to Myles, who convinced me to get the help I knew I so badly needed. He made all the arrangements and drove me personally to a private detox facility where I stayed for a few days. After I had detoxed, he immediately had me enrolled into an Intensive Outpatient treatment program and kept in touch with me on a weekly basis. He got my 19 y/o son out of the county treatment system and into a private treatment facility for dual-diagnosis at a very affordable rate I could not have gotten on my own. My daughter was hopelessly addicted to drugs and floundering. We met Myles in Drug Court and it was like a God Send!! I am a teacher in the public school system, but my pill addiction was destroying my job performance as well as my marriage. After testing positive for opiates in Drug Court , the Judge was about to take me into custody, when Myles intervened and asked the Judge to please give me a chance at private treatment. The counselors at the facility were wonderful and Myles met with me every week and reported to the Judge on my progress. We just wanted to say how much we appreciate what Myles B. Schlam has done for our family and our daughter. She was so deep in denial about her addiction that she would not voluntarily go into treatment. We consulted with Myles, who walked us through the entire Marchman Act process. He attended all the hearings and coordinated treatment for her in a top-notch facility which actually accepted her Medicare benefits. When she was successfully discharged from that facility, Myles immediately enrolled her in a partial-hospitalization program which she attended for several months, while living in a sober-house owned by another therapist he knew.
